I find the middle ground much more comfortable. It has nothing to do with a love-it-or-leave it mentality. Much more to do with an honest approach to interaction; an acknowledgment that both countries have made more than their share of mistakes, that none of the people present are to blame for said mistakes, and that to feel ashamed about those mistakes is a waste of better aimed emotion. I am under no allusion that this country is anything but flawed, however I know the same is true for all countries, and so I find your constant focus on only your own to be quite boring.
